While I can count on a bunch of benefits from the aging process, I guess I’ll take the fact that I’m still learning and applying what I’ve learned.

I think that might be a good definition of wisdom.

I faced a lot of situations so having some experience really does help. So there’s some benefit when it comes to aging like that. I also have a good excuse to take an evening off from exercise when I don’t feel like leaving the central air conditioning of my house. Other than that, I don’t have a ton of praise for the aging process. My body has more aches and pains along with other maladies. And for a long while there, I was feeling as though I was just always dealing with some sort of respiratory issue. Finally, I went to the doctor to see what was going on. My doctor is really great and paid really close attention. She asked me all sorts of interesting questions that included the HVAC equipment. But I told her all about these lingering respiratory issues, I figured I’d just get some sort of prescription. Instead, the doctor insisted that I call the HVAC company. This was not at all what I was expecting. But my doctor thought the indoor air quality of my home was causing my respiratory problems. She then suggested that I change my HVAC air filter to a HEPA filter. And she also suggested to me that I get the HVAC professionals to do the ductwork cleaning. So I did just what the doctor ordered. And with the HEPA filter and clean HVAC air ducts, I’m breathing better than I have in a long time.

I’m not so excited about this part.

But slowing down is just part of the process as we age and it happens to all of us.

I’m just really fortunate to have had the opportunity to take early retirement and move to a region we loved. We’ve been enjoying our retirement and being super active for the last 20 years. My wife and I just aren’t the type to live inside the central air conditioning of our home. We like to be outside and doing things. We’ve been that way even more so once the kids were out the out of the house. When I was offered early retirement from the commercial HVAC of the office, it was worth taking a small cut to my retirement pay. We took the money and we went straight to the land of the heat pump. And we’ve been having fun and enjoying our lives ever since. But we are slowing down a bit now. There are days when my body is still recovering from doing something the day before. We live in an area where the summer is particularly tough and needs lots of air conditioning. My wife suggested that we put on a sunroom for those days where we want to be outside but need to be in the HVAC cooling. It sounds like a great idea so we called the HVAC professionals and the sunroom was transformed. It’s almost like the sunroom is now just a continuation of our home. And the ductless heat pumps inside the sun room provide just the best quality heating and air I could ever ask for.

It’s just so weird the stuff that my husband decides to be so resistant about.

It was just an inexplicable to me that the man I married was so resistant to a simple HVAC equipment upgrade I’d been suggesting for years.

Like everyone else, I was intrigued when the HVAC technology evolved to the smart thermostat. I figured this would just be a great addition to our house and it just made so much sense. This sort of HVAC technology helps maintain the heating and cooling of the house without the need for us to worry about it. The fact that it saved a ton in HVAC utility cost was the icing on the top to me. Yet of course, when I suggested this idea to my husband he wanted to wait until the HVAC technology developed. That’s always a go to excuse with him when it comes to technology. But it’s hard to argue with that logic so he knew I couldn’t necessarily push back. This was particularly true after I was so adamant that we get those TiVo machines from back a couple of decades ago. Still, I brought it up again and again to get a new smart thermostat but to no avail. I finally just kept pushing about the smart thermostat. So he figured out how to program the digital a thermostat that we’ve had since the HVAC equipment was installed. But that clever move didn’t last very long. My sons were playing football inside the house one afternoon when an errant pass destroyed that digital thermostat. So I simply picked up the phone, called HVAC company and had a smart thermostat installed. I’ll take it however I can get it.

For years my family told me that I needed to get a different heating and cooling repair shop to come look at my indoor air temperature control system, but I didn’t listen. They told me time and time again that something wasn’t right with my heating and cooling system – the furnace, AC unit, thermostat, or duct work was always being called into question when I had guests come over to stay. I could never figure out why everyone had such a scrutinous eye out for my own indoor air temperature control system, to be honest. I thought that the heating and cooling devices were working just fine. I adjusted the thermostat, and the indoor air temperature generally followed in the same direction. SOmetimes it took hours or days for those temperature changes to be apparent, but eventually I always got the indoor air quality that I was looking for. I didn’t see what was wrong with my choice of heating and cooling technician, to be honest. And then I had a certified air temperature control specialist come out to the house. It turns out, I never had a real HVAC repairman at all. The guy I used to hire was actually a general contractor, he just happened to have known a thing or two about heating and cooling machinery on the side. He would come out to tell me his best guess about the temperature control machinery and roughly put together some sort of solution. Then I’d wait to see if the heating and cooling repair made things better or not. A good deal of the time, he would make my indoor air temperature worse. These days I have a REAL certified heating and cooling tech… and I have to admit that my family was right.

Sometimes there are things in life that are supposed to make your existence more convenient…

But in fact they make everything more difficult and strenuous.

If you ask me, cell phones fall into this category fairly often. It’s a great idea to be able to get into touch with friends and family no matter where you both are located, however I think it’s destructive to our mental health to never be alone. Similarly, I think that heating and cooling appliances were an absolutely wonderful idea when they were first invented, but air conditioning units and furnaces actually are a lot more trouble than they’re worth a great deal of the time. On the same token, my service contract for my central heating, cooling, and ventilation system has brought me a lot of anxiety – the same anxiety it was supposed to relieve. You see, when I bought a new air conditioning unit I decided to pay for the routine service contract from the heating and cooling repair shop. This way, they would perform the necessary maintenance services on my cooling system twice a year without me having to remember to make the HVAC appointments. I thought I would be less stressed out with the automatic heating and cooling repair scheduling, but in reality, I’m so distressed. I never know when the Professional Heating and Cooling technicians are going to arrive, so I am always prepared for them to show up in the spring and fall. Eventually I get so stressed that I called the HVAC shop to ask when the maintenance appointment will be. Then I make sure I’m home for the heating and cooling inspection. At that point, I might as well just schedule the maintenance jobs myself.

Apparently I have developed quite a reputation around town.

I never thought that I would be the sort of person who was discussed at the local coffee shop.

But here I am, apparently stirring up a lot of trouble and a lot of conversation among the locals. I will admit, I have made a fool of myself and I absolutely deserve some of their attention. The trouble all started when I moved to a brand new climate. I am used to living in the north where the weather is always fairly cold and dry. When I moved to the South I had to quickly adjust to the hot and humid climate that is present throughout the year. You don’t get a single break from the sizzling sun and balmy air quality. This means, your air conditioning system never gets a break either. You are continually operating a central cooling unit in order to keep your home habitable. This of course costs a lot of money when it comes to your monthly energy expenses, your HVAC unit itself, and the regular professional repair and maintenance appointments that keep the cooling system operative. Unfortunately, I didn’t know much about cooling systems or the Professional Heating and cooling repair that would go into an AC unit. I found myself regularly calling the local professional HVAC repair shop for assorted issues with my cooling system. What I didn’t realize was, I could do most of those maintenance jobs myself. Now, when I call the heating and cooling shop for an HVAC concern? They don’t believe me. They got accustomed to programming my thermostat, cleaning my air vents, and changing my air filters for me… and no one ever believes when the AC unit really won’t work.

Call me old fashioned, but I just don’t “get” the indoor appliances that people are wasting their money on these days.

• I’ve never been a big spender, myself, but to see how folks just keep throwing cash at updated, upgraded, indoor machinery has been blowing my mind for a while now.

There’s a “smart” version of everything these days! Even your washer and dryer, dishwasher, and refrigerator can be connected to the internet. I thought it was crazy enough when I found out about updated heating and cooling solutions being linked up to wifi so you could control the indoor temp from anywhere. Then I found out that things have gotten even more ridiculous in the HVAC world! You can actually install a system that heats and cools parts of your home distinctly! It’s wild to see all the changes in one lifetime. We couldn’t even use heating and cooling in my childhood home as a kiddo. We weren’t allowed to use indoor air quality control on a regular basis because the system was so old and expensive. The boiler system and single window AC unit were never enlisted for temperature control, really. That’s why it’s so wild these days to step back and consider the option of a whole new indoor air handling system with internet connectability, smartphone apps, and separate temperature zone controls. The idea of separately controlled temperatures in one home with one HVAC system blew my mind when I first heard about it – in a bad way. If you’re uncomfortable in one room, put on a sweatshirt and stop complaining. There doesn’t have to be a high tech solution for everything.

My girlfriend and I have only been dating for a couple of weeks. Some of our dates have included going out to dinner and the movies. We went to a museum once on a Saturday and we spent the day at the beach on a Sunday. We never really hung out at home until this past weekend. My girlfriend said that I should come over to her apartment and we would spend the whole weekend watching movies. I was certainly feeling a little bit nervous about our weekend, but my girlfriend was great about the whole experience. On Friday night, we ordered some pizza and we watched a rom-com from the ’80s. We had some candy, soda, and popcorn. After the sun went down, the temperature started to get colder and I thought that my girlfriend would turn on the heater. She did not mind that it was cold. It honestly felt like the air conditioner was running, but I didn’t want to say anything about the temperatures. The next morning I woke up and it was still cold in the house and it was only 46° outside. I like hanging out at home with my girl, but I wish it was a little bit warmer. I didn’t want to say anything about the indoor temperatures, because I didn’t want to complain about the thermostat. If we spend a lot of time together at her place, eventually I will have to admit that I prefer the indoor temperatures to be warmer. I would have turned on the furnace a long time ago.

My wife and I decided to go out of town for a couple of days.

We stayed in a hotel that did not meet all of our needs.

We were completely dissatisfied with their room, especially after we saw the place. The cost of the room was a little bit more than I would normally pay for a night away from the house, but my wife said that the reviews for the place were pretty good. We were supposed to have a room with a terrace and a view. Instead the clerk at the front desk tried to put us in a room that was on the interior of the hotel. We didn’t even have Windows in our room. I told the clerk that the room was unacceptable and we got moved to a different room on the other side of the hotel. We still didn’t have a terrace, but at least we had windows and a view. The place was dirty and it looked as if someone had stayed in that room and then we were asked to spend the night there. There was absolutely no way that I was going to stay there. The cost of our room was way too much after we saw the place and I demanded that we go to the front desk and get our money back. We went to a different hotel that night that was twice the cost of the first one, but at least the heating and air conditioning system did not have goop coming out of the air vents. The heating and air conditioning system was probably the worst part of the entire room. The air vents were dusty and covered with algae or mold.

I really don’t believe that anything is a coincidence.

I believe that everything happens for a reason, even if it is something good or bad. We have a path that is already forged for us and we will be led in the right direction no matter which forks we end up taking. I was with my ex-girlfriend for 6 years. I thought we were happy. We were living in a house together that was in my name, but we were both paying the mortgage and considered the place to be ours. We were talking about having kids and getting married. Then one day everything changed when I found her at a hotel with someone else. I was working for a commercial heating and AC repair service. The owner of the hotel called the commercial heating and AC repair service where I work. The hotel is easily 45 minutes away from the commercial heating and a receipt repair service. The only reason the owner of the hotel called us is because we were the first result on the internet and the regular guy was already booked for the day. It was odd for me to be in that hotel. I was in the lobby talking to the manager about the heating and AC repair when I saw my ex-girlfriend with her arms all over some guy. They were sitting in the bar having a drink. My girlfriend was supposed to be at work, but she was dressed like she had a hot date. I didn’t say anything at the hotel, because of my job. We talked later that night.
