I walked into the housing center the other month and asked where they kept their area heaters! The area oil furnace I kept in my mother’s bedroom had died earlier that week, and I wanted to get something new for her. I essentially had to wait until I was paid before I could purchase the area heater. When I asked the salesperson about the area heaters, he gave me a pretty strange look. He asked me if I was truly serious. With the cold wave, all the people were coming in for an area heater, in case their heating equipment died. The hot and cold temperatures dropped close to twenty degrees in less than a single day! Mom was getting older and she was not able to handle the cold. I wanted to make sure she had an area oil furnace to help compensate for the cold weather. I found one area heater, but it didn’t have all the safety features I was genuinely looking for. I wanted to make sure it had tip-over so that when the area oil furnace was actually pushed over, it would automatically turn off. I wanted to make sure the area oil furnace didn’t need any fuel. It genuinely scared me she would get up in the day and bump into the area oil furnace and possibly burn herself or the apartment down. I wanted nothing to happen to my dear mom. The guy asked when I needed the area oil furnace and I told him I wanted it that exact same day. He told me where to go to find the area oil furnace and then he left. I walked out of the store and headed several miles to their other store. I found the area oil furnace I wanted, and I took it back to my mother.

I wanted to make sure it had tip-over safety so that when the area furnace got pushed over, it would automatically turn off. I wanted to make sure the area furnace didn’t need any fuel. It petrified me he would get up in the day plus bump into the area furnace plus burn himself or the dwelling down. I wanted nothing to happen to my father. He asked when I needed the area furnace plus I told him I wanted it that same day. He told me where to go to find the area furnace plus walked away. I walked out of the store plus headed many miles to their other store. I found the area furnace I was looking for, plus I took it back to my dwelling to my mom.

When I discovered there would be numerous ladies going along, I too decided to go.

I took shorts plus a t-shirt with me, although I didn’t take the right clothing. The night before the immense game, while everyone was get-togethering, I was shopping for better clothing. It had become so frigid, that I was sure it was going to snow instead of rain. The people who were there, told me I was honestly crazy, plus it wasn’t going to snow, although I grew up in the country, plus I knew what snow weather was feeling like, plus this was it. In the middle of the night, I turned the temperature control up in my bedroom, because it was getting too frosty to sleep easily. I was gleeful I bought heavier PJ’s while I was out, or I would have frozen to death for certain. They didn’t have heated seats, or enclosed areas for us to sit at the game. When we got up the next day, everyone was looking out the windows. There was close to a foot of snow blanketing the area. We left numerous hours early to get to the pigskin game. Instead of taking our tickets, they were providing snow shovels so you could get to your seats. They were selling seat heating systems plus personal heating systems to everyone. I thought they should give us the heating systems for free given the cost of the tickets, plus we had to shovel our way to our seats on top of that.

When we got up the next day, everyone was staring out the windows. There was approximately a foot of snow blanketing the area. We left quite a few hours early to get to the football game. Instead of taking our tickets, they were handing out snow shovels so you could get to your respective seats. They were selling seat heating systems and personal gas heating equipment to all the people coming in the gate. I thought they should provide us with gas heating equipment for free when I saw how much the tickets cost, and we had to shovel our way to our actual seats.

When I moved south to go to school, all the people told me I was going to thoroughly enjoy my first Christmas down south.

I spent my first Christmas there, but I could not figure out what was so wonderful about it! When I lived up north, we would go skiing plus ice skating over the holidays.

Mom plus dad constantly rented a cottage near the ski slopes plus we spent most of the afternoon on the slopes. We would go back to the cottage plus rest around the fireplace drinking tepid chocolate while mom prepared dinner. I went to a pool to get together on Christmas Eve, but I didn’t have any fun. They had Christmas lights up, however it wasn’t the same when you were having a BBQ plus swimming at midnight. I asked my host family if it ever got freezing down here. He said it gets freezing for a couple of weeks! Last year, they had hot plus cold temperatures in the forties at night for a short time. Forty wasn’t cold at all when you came from the north. I wanted to go ice skating plus skiing, however they said it could not be accomplished. Christmas morning, we rested around the Christmas tree with the a/c machine turned on. It was already seventy or so, plus no one seemed to notice. The only reason the a/c machine was on was for me. I was too tepid to breathe plus wearing my shorts while all the others were wearing sweatshirts plus jeans. I felt similar to a fish out of water. This year, I am going back to my residence for the holidays. I wanted to rest near a fireplace that gave off heat. I wanted to turn the thermostat up to make it completely warm, plus not reset the a/c machine. I suppose I won’t be staying here after graduation.
