My wife was one of the best HVAC technicians I had ever known.
- We went to HVAC classes together, which is where we met.
She and I studied together and before we graduated with our certification; I was already falling in love. When we were both asked to work for the class instructor in his mentor program, we were overjoyed. That was almost ten years ago, and we are now married. For the first time since I met her, she was telling me she didn’t feel like going to work, and I was worried. My wife was the type of person who worked when she had the flu. She didn’t want to let people down when they needed heating and air conditioning. She would don a mask and head to the people’s house, then pass out when she got home. When she said she wasn’t sure if she wanted to go to work that day, I called the doctor. I told her she had to go to the doctor if she wasn’t feeling well enough to go to work. Instead of arguing with me, she agreed. All day, I was worried about her. I had one of my customers ask if I was okay because it was taking me so long to work on her furnace. I told her my wife was sick, and I was worried. She understood and told me to call her. My worry turned into elation when she called me back. She told me she wasn’t contagious, but she wouldn’t be working much in about six months. She found out we were going to have a baby.
