The most memorable client interaction I have had this year as an HVAC tech would be with a mom who only requested a quality HVAC in their baby registry.
- I know the benefits of having a climate-controlled home for an infant, but even as a cooling expert, I did not consider it necessary when I birthed all my children.
We got a call from the mom early in January, and she explained that she had been told we were the best in air conditioning installation within the local cooling industry. We were all expecting her to ask for an inspection of her air conditioning filter, like most of our new clients, but she requested to add us to her baby registry. She explained that her house had an older air conditioning system and wanted an upgrade before her first child was born in early July. We were all impressed by her thoughtfulness and suggested that an HVAC professional inspect her house so we could have specific details on the best cooling technology. I was excited to learn why she thought heat and AC products were better than having all the cute little things people give babies. She explained that having a new HVAC installed was one of the ways she was hoping to ensure her baby slept safely without her worrying about overheating. A look at her house indicated that she would need a new contractor to work on some ducting issues we identified that would interfere with the efficiency of the AC. I helped her make the baby registry for new cooling equipment and linked it to our HVAC business with a description of what she needed. By the end of May, we had installed the A/C, which had a programmable thermostat, after overwhelming support from her friends and family.
