I loved my job, but not my coworker.

I loved being an HVAC technician, but I had a problem with one of my coworkers.

For the first five years I worked at the HVAC company, I had been having a good time.

I work for an amazing boss, and he is fair to everyone. When they brought new HVAC technicians into the company, we all took them under our wing. Last week, he introduced us to the newest HVAC technician. I took an instant dislike to the newbie, but I didn’t know why. I tried to give the new tech some instruction, but I was ignored. One afternoon, I walked into the boss’s office and told him what was happening. I said I couldn’t work with the kid, and I was going crazy. I saw the smirk and I asked what was so funny? He told me the ‘kid’ wasn’t going anywhere, and he suggested I work with her. As I was walking out the door, he called out for me to turn around. He told me she was not a kid, but a twenty-five-year-old woman who was an excellent HVAC technician, and she was also his daughter. He gave me no choice but to work with her and teach her the ropes. I had to admit she was an excellent HVAC technician who needed little instruction. I didn’t need to admit that I was drawn to her, and that was what was making me uncomfortable. I hope she never turns that smile on me she gives to the other guys. I’d be lost, and forget what I was supposed to be doing, and fix an AC unit instead of a furnace.
