Talk about putting fear in your students; I had an professor who knew how to do it; Right at the beginning of her first lecture to new Heating & Air Conditioning students, she informs them that several would fail the class.
Some would get through certification classes & fail the final exam & need to retake it or quit.
I saw some students smiling as if they had heard this before or didn’t believe it could be that hard, other students were wide-eyed & I could see they were concerned they would be a single of the several that failed. My dad was the professor, & she always let the senior Heating & Air Conditioning specialist provide her speech before starting Heating & Air Conditioning training classes. It scared some, but it made them labor harder to achieve their goals. I sat in class this year, & when I heard the initial lecture, even I was anxious, & I grew up in the world of Heating & Air Conditioning. I wasn’t sure if I easily wanted to take the class, if I was already doomed to fail, according to Mike. When I was getting ready to go lake house that day, I heard some gentlemen talking about class. One was saying it was going to be a breeze. Another said about the speech & how it was meant to make you labor harder & not be complacent, but knowing my dad, it was the latter, but knowing Mike, she just wanted the students to take the Heating & Air Conditioning classes seriously. I already knew how pressing Heating & Air Conditioning was to people, & I planned on taking every lesson seriously. I wanted to be the next owner of the Heating & Air Conditioning dealer.
