My fiance was always telling myself and others to leave the repairs to the professionals, but fixing the air conditioner component looked so simple. There were very few working parts I didn’t recognize. I waited until my fiance went to town & I went into the backyard. I felt like a thief in the night, looking over my shoulder & listening for vehicles as I opened the front of the A/C unit. I had it opened & touched unusual parts, telling myself what they were for. I had the fan blades removed & had just finished cleaning the condensate drain when I touched a wire. I got a small jolt from the electric & chuckled, but then the jolt knocked myself and others on my butt. I blamed it on my standing in the wet sod & went back to work. I saw a wire that was broken & wanted to repair it. When I saw the flames, I realized it could have electrocuted me. I called the Heating & Air Conditioning contractor & asked them to repair the A/C unit. I told them about the broken wire & I was sure it was the reason my air conditioner was running intermittently. When the wire was close enough to conduct power, the fan would work. When the wire was moving around, the fan would not work. The Heating & Air Conditioning specialist seemed confused, but she promised to be there in an hour. I l received my lesson about trying to do Heating & Air Conditioning repairs & stuck with cars. I guess how to repair cars. Besides, if the Heating & Air Conditioning still doesn’t labor when the Heating & Air Conditioning tech leaves, it will be their fault & not mine.
