My family and I are truly fortunate to be able to live in a home with quality heating and air among many other amenities.
It’s particularly amazing for me given how I grew up. Believe it or not, I grew up in a home that didn’t have residential HVAC at all. My parents raised us in an old farmhouse that had a wood stove for heating but that was it. In the summer, dad might toss in a window air conditioner for the living room if it got really hot. But where I grew up, there wasn’t a great deal of need for central air conditioning. That’s different these days. The HVAC equation is sort of flipped on it’s head now. The need for HVAC cooling is far more important than HVAC heating. The heat pump may come on a handful of times over the winter. But that’s all and heating is not the primary HVAC concern. It’s all about the HVAC cooling in our house. So we have the sort of HVAC technology that helps us manage the level of heat and humidity that we get in this region. As a responsible homeowner, it’s up to me to look after the heating and cooling equipment. This has always been a priority. I make sure that I do my part by changing out the HVAC air filter each month. But there’s more to caring for residential HVAC than just that.
