I really had no idea what type of HVAC we should go for in our new home.
We bought this home for a great deal, and it was even better because the old HVAC system was basically shot.
So of course we already made plans to upgrade the HVAC system immediately, it was just a question of what was best for the household. The house already had an old boiler system with radiators all around in different rooms. We were shown that the boiler works still and the piping is high quality and in great shape. The radiators were pretty beat up though and rusting bad in some areas where the paint faded away. I decided to have an HVAC professional come out. He told us about our options. He said if it were him, he would install a modern boiler and hook it up to the same pipes. He said we could do that and install new radiators, or we could have radiant heated floors hooked up. He said we already had a pretty nice set up for radiant heated floors and it was easy to access underneath all the flooring down in the basement. He said he could get that installation done in a couple of days with his team of HVAC professionals. I couldn’t believe that I was actually considering such a nice heating system like radiant heated floors, but the energy efficiency and comfort would totally be worth the investment! So we had radiant heated floors installed along with a ductless mini split air conditioner. The heating system has been nice and I can’t wait to see how good the air conditioner works in the summer.
