Do your research before you get PPC ads

The older generation still hasn’t fully grasped how much things have changed! The other day I talked to a newspaper advertising rep about a price quote for a week-long ad campaign.

When she told me the cost, I legit laughed out loud because I thought she was kidding, but she was not kidding, it really did cost that much.

I thanked her, hung up, and shook my head in disbelief. My dad still thinks that to advertise the company we need to be in newspapers and on the radio, things have changed. If we are ever going to ever have effective heating and A/C advertising for this company, we are going to need to get with the times. Don’t just jump in and begin running a campaign on Google ads, for heaven’s sake, do your research and prep work first! Without a nice baseline of SEO on your website, any ad campaign success will be fleeting. SEO, or search engine optimization, is the foundation for your website, because it is how the search engines know the value of your website. Running digital or PPC ads before you have SEO done on your website is akin to inviting people over to go swimming before you have any water in the pool, and once you have solid web design, and efficient SEO, then it’s time to dip your toe into the waters of digital advertising. If you aren’t finally working with a veteran digital advertising company, then I would request starting with a few PPC ads, to gauge response, and after that, you can scale up to Google ads.
