I had an HVAC technician come to my home today to perform routine HVAC maintenance and to diagnose and fix a high humidity issue on my smart thermostat.
When the HVAC technician was in my home we had great conservation.
His name was Steve and he was very pleasant. Steve was complimenting our home and saying how grateful he was to be in a home that was clean and had working air conditioning. We live in the south and he has had several clients in the last month or two that have been without air conditioning for weeks. Steve said that when he enters client’s homes that have been without air conditioning for a few weeks, not only is it extremely hot and humid in their homes, but often the homes smell due to the stale air. Steve also said that he was recently at a home where the owners were without air conditioning for two weeks and had three dogs. Steve stated that the owners did not take care of their dogs, so when he walked into their non air conditioned home, the smell of dog urine and feces was extreme. Steve said that this may have been one of the worst experiences in his long history as an HVAC technician and he was ready to leave as soon as possible. I felt so bad for Steve and I realized that he has to work in extremely hot conditions, as well as conditions that are unclean sometimes. Steve stated that a career as an HVAC technician has its ups and downs, and he is always grateful for clients like us.
