I’m still in college and I have lived on campus housing for the past 3 years.
I plan on staying one more year and getting my Masters.
However I think I’m going to live in a house next year. My friend is moving out and they need someone to replace her spot. At first I wasn’t going to do it just because I didn’t feel like having the responsibility but it will save me much more money living in a house than on campus housing. Campus housing is very expensive each semester. So to save money next year I’m going to live in a house with a few of my friends. My parents told me that I’m going to have to be careful with the electricity and heating and cooling bills. This is because I will be paying the usage for these things each month. Since I am so used to living in campus housing and not worrying about heating cooling or electricity, I’ll have to be extra careful once I live in the house. My parents told me that if I wanted to save money on heating and cooling their HVAC technician gave them a suggestion. He stated that the thermostat in the summer should be set between 78 degrees and 80 degrees. In the winter the thermostat should be set to 70 degrees to 72 degrees. When I move in the house in a few months I’m going to remember this recommendation and tell my roommates so we can all save energy and money together.
