Renovating properties with ductless heat pumps

It wasn’t a tough sell. I was like 8 days away from having my first tenant move in and I was finding out that the ductwork in my first rental property wasn’t up to snuff. So the HVAC contractor suggested an alternative. Instead of replacing the heat pump and the entire ductwork system, he could put in three strategically placed ductless heat pumps. I think he called it a multi split ductless heat pump system if I’m not mistaken. So that’s what we ended up doing. I made that choice because there really wasn’t any other choice. Not only would ripping out and replacing the ductwork run me thousands of dollars over my renovation budget, there wasn’t any time. The HVAC professional, as good as he is, just wasn’t going to be able to get the ductwork replaced and do the new residential HVAC replacement in a week. So like I said, it wasn’t a tough sell when he suggested that we go with the ductless heat pump. For sure, that first rental property was a big learning curve for me in many ways. But using ductless heat pump technology was actually a blessing. I’m using only that heating and cooling method in every other rental property I end up buying. It’s so cost efficient and in many of the homes that are out there, ductwork is worthless. Plus, the tenants love the fact that they can customize their heating and cooling using the separate ductless heat pumps. For sure, I’ve been so pleased with what could have been a calamity. I’ll be forever indebted to my awesome HVAC contractor for showing me the way with the multi split ductless heat pump system.
