Last week, I called the HVAC corporation. I wanted to have the air conditioning unit took care of. They gave me a date and time, and reminded me they had a multiple-minute window for arrival. I knew all about the multiple-minute window. I just wanted to make sure I knew the date so I could give a heads-up to our boss, and since the time was late afternoon, I was going to take a full-day off for personal time. On the afternoon the HVAC serviceman was to arrive, I was cleaning our house. She got there shortly after the arrival time. I watched the HVAC maintenance van pull into our driveway and was heading to the door when I heard 2 doors closed. I looked outside and saw 2 HVAC servicemans getting out of the maintenance van. I knew how costly it was to have 1 HVAC serviceman come to the house, and there was no way I was going to spend money for 2 of them. They had better have a good reason for sending 2 men, or I was going to throw a hissy fit, however when the HVAC serviceman came to the door; she showed me her HVAC ID badge. I looked at the younger girl sitting behind him. The older girl introduced him and said she was an apprentice. They brought him along to do the air conditioning unit service, and all the older HVAC serviceman had to do was watch him to make sure the HVAC serviceman did it right. I smiled, however asked who I was supposed to pay? She said I only paid for 1 HVAC serviceman, although I was blessed and got 2.
