Call me old fashioned, but I just don’t “get” the indoor appliances that people are wasting their money on these days.
- I’ve never been a big spender, myself, but to see how folks just keep throwing cash at updated, upgraded, indoor machinery has been blowing my mind for a while now.
There’s a “smart” version of everything these days! Even your washer and dryer, dishwasher, and refrigerator can be connected to the internet. I thought it was crazy enough when I found out about updated heating and cooling solutions being linked up to wifi so you could control the indoor temp from anywhere. Then I found out that things have gotten even more ridiculous in the HVAC world! You can actually install a system that heats and cools parts of your home distinctly! It’s wild to see all the changes in one lifetime. We couldn’t even use heating and cooling in my childhood home as a kiddo. We weren’t allowed to use indoor air quality control on a regular basis because the system was so old and expensive. The boiler system and single window AC unit were never enlisted for temperature control, really. That’s why it’s so wild these days to step back and consider the option of a whole new indoor air handling system with internet connectability, smartphone apps, and separate temperature zone controls. The idea of separately controlled temperatures in one home with one HVAC system blew my mind when I first heard about it – in a bad way. If you’re uncomfortable in one room, put on a sweatshirt and stop complaining. There doesn’t have to be a high tech solution for everything.
