Mice were storing food and living in our heating system

There were mice storing food in our heating system downstairs, and both of us didn’t even know it, but i knew that there was something odd going on in our home because the dog was eating a ton more food than she usually did.

She wasn’t gaining any weight, though, and she was regularly begging for treats and that’s not something that she would usually ever do, usually she’s a genuinely well behaved dog, for the most part.

I kept on wondering why she was acting so hungry all the time until one afternoon when I was home alone and I heard a odd scratching sound coming from the direction of the heating vent in the kitchen floor. When I looked over at the heating bank, some movement caught our eye and that has when I saw a little mouse going into the whole behind the heating vent. I could hardly feel our eyes, the two of us had never had a mouse invade our home before and so it was shocking to see a little mouse inside of our house. I did not know what to do and so I called up our hubby and she said that both of us needed to set some traps. I did not want to set a trap, though, because I did not want to kill the exhausting little mouse. I just wanted to make sure that it was out of our home and not eating our dog food anymore! I ended up calling an exterminator even though I told him that I only wanted him to do a live capture of the mouse! After that I called up our Heating, Ventilation and A/C supplier and had them come and do a complete ductwork cleaning for us. I wanted to make sure that there was no dog food or any mouse fur or anything stuck down inside of our ductwork.
