My partner Ed and I were hoping for a nicer Christmas than the one the people I was with and I had last year. Ed and I woke up in the day to freezing temps both inside and outside the house. The natural gas furnace quit laboring in the middle of the night. My partner Ed got out of bed, and slid on an icy floor. I had scrubbed the floors before going to bed, and I left some water sitting out. That small puddle wound up turning that area of the kitchen into a skating rink. Ed fell and ended up in the hospital with a concussion while I waited for the Heating and Air Conditioning guy to arrive and repair the gas furnace. By the time the Heating and Air Conditioning tech left, I was heading to the hospital to pick up our partner Ed, who wasn’t sure what had happened, because the accident happened so suddenly, and I needed to explain. This year, Ed and I are hoping the gas furnace works perfectly and Ed and I don’t end up spending most of our Christmas day in the hospital. To make sure this doesn’t happen, Ed called the Heating and Air Conditioning company and asked them to do another inspection on the natural gas furnace. Ed wanted to have a promise that our Christmas would be uneventful, at least as far as the heating situation. When the next Heating and Air Conditioning worker told us Ed and I made a smart choice calling him, the people I was with and I looked at each other. She said Ed and I may want to consider a current gas furnace now, because she didn’t guess this one was going to last beyond the next year. Ed started to laugh and told myself and others I was disappointing luck. Ever since Ed and I moved in together, something had gone wrong over the holidays.
