I cannot wait for my current HVAC unit to die. I know that sounds weird, but it is true. I have no storage in my house. My HVAC closet is huge, but totally filled. The indoor air handler sits on a platform and takes up 50% of the space. I was informed by my husband I can’t stuff things under the platform either. I need to allow open flow for the heating and cooling system. The other side of the HVAC closet has a water heater. It goes all the way to the ceiling and is bulky. I can’t put anything other than one broom, mp and bucket in here. It is a huge letdown. I have decided that when the HVAC dies, I am going ductless. That means the indoor air handlers will be in the bedrooms of the home. They mount on the wall and have their own thermostat. You can do zone control with this method. It is said to be energy smart since you don’t waste energy heating and cooling rooms you don’t frequent. I really just want to free up the closet. When the water heater dies I will be doing a tankless model. It is about the size of a small suitcase and will mount on the wall as well. So I could then have the closet be a coat room. I Could put shoes, coats, wrapper paper and cleaning supplies in there. I get giddy just thinking about it. The water heater is pretty new, so I have almost 15 years before that happens. The HVAC unit only has about three years left though.
