My home’s former temperature control was an ugly dial a single.
It had a plastic toggle that you wiggled from 60-90 degree range.
The numbers were entirely small and difficult to read. It also was the perfect height for my partner’s shoulder to bump the toggle. She could not read if she changed the temperature. More often than not, she would. Frequently I would come home to a sweltering house. My partner would have bumped the temperature control up to 78 degrees before work and not notice. The condo then would have the gas furnace on all day without anyone home. I would then arrive at a super heated condo and a high energy bill. It became obvious that we needed a new temperature control suddenly. I upgraded it with a smart temperature control. First I picked it because it was pretty. A smart temperature control has a silver surround and a colorful innerface. It looked new, modern and matched our decor. Next, I liked that the temperature control could have a program. I am someone that is consistently in and out of the house. The temperature control does scan for home tenants. If it finds out you aren’t there, the temperature control will turn off the Heating & A/C unit. I choose to just do a timed program with it. So while I am inside laboring, I have heating or cooling. I get a cut for my dinner and work out break. It also turns off at 5pm since I am outside. The condo temperature control doesn’t turn on our Heating & A/C until I am getting ready for bed. It saves myself and others so much money.
