There is this feeling that has been fostered lately in our culture that sort of worries me a bit. Well, it more than worries me because it kept us from the most effective response to Covid. While so many of us heeded the warnings of experts and hunkered down in the central air conditioning of our home, there were plenty who didn’t. It was as if they couldn’t be bothered. And their disdain for any medical authority or expert was deeply disturbing. I hated seeing this. And I know that had we just been able to pull ourselves to be a bit more cohesive, human and compassionate, we’d have been better off. Instead, my office with the zone controlled HVAC stayed closed for 18 months. And even now, there are so many variants of the Covid virus running around because we just can’t listen to anyone suggesting that we wear a mask. When I stop and think about it, the whole thing is laughable. And it would be funny if it wasn’t so terrifying. For me, I do believe in experts and I listen to them. For instance, I don’t believe that the HVAC professionals are trying to take advantage of me with HVAC maintenance. Nor do I think the HVAC factory is trying to get one over on me because they’ll void an HVAC warranty if anyone but an HVAC technician attempts a repair. These are experts and I trust them. I’ve been dealing with the same HVAC company now for nearly 25 years. And I know they are looking out for my best interests.
