I normally do it every many months but I took a trip to the US and forgot to do it before leaving and now it has been about several months since cleaning the filter
I keep going back and forth about this. I appreciate the plan of a wood burning fireplace with the smell of the wood burning and the sounds of the crackling wood releasing steam vapors trapped inside. The only thing I don’t appreciate about the wood fireplaces is all of the tasks it takes to make the fire. You have to chop the wood and then haul it in, after that you need to clean all of the ashes from the fireplace once it has burned. I appreciate the plan of a gas fireplace being much cleaner without all of the hassle of wood as a fuel. I have a central furnace to heat the current home so the fireplace would just be for fun as I appreciate the sight of fire, as long as it isn’t our current home that is burning! Speaking of our HVAC system, I believe it is also time to check the furnace filter because I haven’t cleaned it in a really long time and I bet that it is quite dirty at this point. I normally do it every many months but I took a trip to the US and forgot to do it before leaving and now it has been about several months since cleaning the filter. I would appreciate it if they make a washable HEPA filter for furnaces because I believe it would do a much better job of cleaning the air of any smells that the furnace puts out. My furnace is older and seems to give off more smells when it is running.
