Even during the pandemic, I continued to run 20 miles every day

The fitness center was closed for 6 months during the pandemic and I couldn’t go there to work out at all.

I normally went to the fitness center to lift weights and use the treadmill.

They also have a free suna that members can use and that was a great way to end a daily workout routine. I was training for a race in the spring. I still needed to have a good health plan in order to stay in good physical shape. During the pandemic, I decided to run outdoors. I carefully mapped a route around the neighborhood by my apartment. The route was 6 miles when I started, but I was up to 20 miles when I was finished. I included an area near the lake and a trail for hiking that most people don’t use anymore. I wanted to be sure that I would still be physically fit when the gym opened. I certainly didn’t expect it to take six months, so it was nice to have a trail for running. When the fitness center reopened, I still continued to run outdoors, but I added weightlifting to my daily routine. I trained hard six days every week, so I could be in the tip top best shape at race time. The race was held a few weeks ago and I took sixth place out of 2200 entries. I did very well for my age group and I surprised a lot of my friends and family. To be honest, I surprised myself too. My time was faster than any of the practice days.
