When all the little ones finally moved out of the house, my wife and I weren’t exactly sure what we should get into.
She just wanted to clean up the house real well but I was thinking that we didn’t necessarily need to keep the house. It was a large home and the HVAC was pretty old. The roof also needed to be upgraded so I knew there was plenty of work to be done. Instead of paying roofers a small fortune to tear off the roof shingles and replace everything, I learned how to do roofing work from studying online videos. I got a bunch of buddies to help me out. The work wasn’t especially easy, but we were able to get everything done over the course of a few days. I mean what can I say, I’m not a professional, but I have to say that we did a pretty awesome job. I’m just glad that it’s not a very high roof because I wouldn’t want to work up way too high. My fear of heights wasn’t awful though since our home was a single story place and the roof wasn’t all crazy like some places. When we had that work finished, I was motivated to do even more. Then I thought about the HVAC system and wondered if we could install something like that. I did some digging and learned about DIY ductless mini splits. I ordered one of these HVAC systems and we installed that. It was actually easier to do than the roof installation! Now I know we can focus on selling the home because it’s now worth a great deal of money. Then my wife can settle into a comfortable little home with all the conveniences. I also want a fireplace.
