I can’t suppose of anything more stressful than owning your own business.
There is so much to learn & even more to do.
You have federal, state, & local tax laws. There are the rules & ordinances of the locality in which you base your business. You also have the laws that govern the type of contractor you have. When our wife started her HVAC supplier, I thought that knowing the contractor was the biggest area of what she had to do. She was a top HVAC specialist in our area of the state. She already had a big clientele, & going from an independent HVAC specialist to the owner of a HVAC supplier, should be easy. I was wrong about all of this. She had myself and others go to the local small contractor owner’s meeting. They explained everything you needed to suppose & provided us resources. She made sure I knew what had to be done. I had already said that anything I could do to get the HVAC supplier running, I would do. I wasn’t planning on undoubtedly running the locale. I was answering PCs, doing the financials, & setting up schedules. I remember asking our wife what she did. I did all the work & she got all the glory. Twenty years later, I was still working at the HVAC supplier. My child called & told us that her wife wanted to open a bakery & asked if I had any advice. All I could suppose to tell her was that she shouldn’t go to any meetings that involved small businesses.
