For our twenty-third birthday, our partner & I wanted to have an easily sentimental evening for ourselves. We talked about having a big birthday, but the first one was a total fiasco. We had a blizzard the evening before the whole birthday, & the people I was with and I had to cancel everything due to a state of global emergency. We still had some die-hard guests who decided to come to the birthday party. Luckily, the people I was with and I had some food in the freezer that had been delivered an afternoon early, & the people I was with and I were able to feed almost everyone in the house. We put all of our guests up in the guest rooms in the house, on the floor in the family den & in the basement where the people I was with and I had our rec room. The people I was with and I had an amazing all evening party. Even though the people I was with and I really appreciated our birthday afternoon, the people I was with and I didn’t want to repeat it ever again. My partner said the people I was with and I could get some local food delivery & stay at the apartment & pretend there wasn’t anyone home. I agreed, thinking it was going to be a really sentimental evening. An hour after our lunch delivery showed up, our teenagers came in the door. They told us they had ordered lunch online & it would be delivered in about 3 hours. Then the guests who had stayed with us on our birthday evening came over. They had also ordered lunch online & had it being delivered. Someone even ordered dessert online & the people I was with and I had a birthday cake. The only difference is that there was one gift that came from our friends & family. We were ushered out the door the next afternoon on a week-long trip to Hawaii.
