Appreciating my gym membership

There’s an indoor track and even a rockwall for climbing.

For many years, I wasn’t interested in paying for a gym membership. I was certain it would be a waste of my money. I was sure that I’d never take the extra time or make the effort to drive to the gym when I can easily workout at home. I’ve bought some basic equipment and can get a decent workout on my own. I like to go for a run, jump rope, ride my bike, do lunges or push ups. I manage to get my heart rate elevated. I had no thought of ever trying out the gym. Then my husband gave me a 12 month gym membership for my birthday. He’s very aware of my dedication to keeping myself in peak physical condition, so it was a really thoughtful gift. I didn’t want him to think that I wasn’t happy with the gift. I decided to get his money’s worth. I made the commitment to head to the gym a minimum of four days per week and devote an hour there each trip. As soon as I began working out at the gym, I realized the appeal. I found it a challenge to only spend an hour there. I am so happy to have access to such a wide selection of state-of-the-art equipment. There’s tons of treadmills, ellipticals, stair climbers, rowing machines and varieties of bikes. There’s machines that target all the different muscle groups. There’s speed bags, dumbbells, kettlebells, resistance bands and battle ropes. There’s an indoor track and even a rockwall for climbing. I have the option to sign up for circuit training, yoga, pilates, spin and a number of group classes. I can even go tanning or sign up for massage therapy. I have now kept the gym membership for four years.
