I should have been able to ace the test without a single worry.
When I got to the testing center, my mind went blank. I couldn’t suppose of anything but my wife. She was in the hospital, in labor with our first child, and she told me to get out. Even the dentist said it was going to take more than 2 minutes and I had plenty of time to take the test. I sat there looking at the exam and I answered every question to the best of my ability. I barely passed the test, but it distraught me I would never get a job. Nobody wants to hire a newly certified HVAC professional, who passed the certification test by the skin of their teeth. My wife was sure someone would understand what was going on. I failed to tell anyone that my wife was in labor. I worked so hard to get my HVAC certification. I wanted to be a licensed and bonded HVAC professional and be the owner of an HVAC company before my child went to kindergarten. Now, I distraught about getting a job with a local HVAC business. The idea of being a licensed HVAC company owner had all but been abolished. I put applications into every HVAC company within a ten-mile radius. It was about more than two weeks before I finally got a phone call. The owner was looking for an apprentice, and I couldn’t stop smiling. I was finally going to get a chance to be a HVAC professional. He said he would have hired me much earlier had he known my wife was in labor when I took the certification test.
