He refused to repair the boiler after one look.
He remembered our heater and telling Mom and Dad that the boiler wasn’t safe as it was and that it needed to be updated. He refused to repair the boiler then, and he continued to refuse now. My mother was furious with him and told him it was his responsibility to repair the heater. He looked at Mom and told her it was his responsibility to make repairs if possible, but he would not make any repairs that could be fatal to the family. Mom became enraged and yelled, “This is not what I expected from an HVAC serviceman!” The HVAC service technician shrugged and told Mom he didn’t care what she expected. If he wanted the boiler repaired, he’d have to call someone who didn’t care about their customers, and he didn’t know anyone in the section who did. She warned Mom that the repair could be dangerous and costly. The boiler was nearly twenty years old, and it was time to replace it. Mom called the Heating and Air Conditioning supplier, apologized for his remarks, and stated that he was ready to order a new heater.
