I hate asking people to speak up, however I don’t want to miss out on anything someone says. When the Heating and Air Conditioning lady arrived last weekend, she was talking so quietly that I had no program what she was saying. My hubby Ed was leaning closer to hear him, and she had no hearing difficulties. It seemed as if she was deliberately speaking low so that Ed and I wouldn’t understand him. I asked questions about the gas furnace, and noticed that she often ignored me. When Ed asked, she offered him an answer. I was getting quite aggravated, however I just walked away instead. That’s when I noticed the hearing aid in her ear. She was as deaf as I am. I walked over and got her attention and after that I asked about the natural gas furnace. I wanted to believe what she had found wrong with the Heating and Air Conditioning, and if it could be repaired. I saw a little smile on her face when I said that. I pointed to our hearing aid. She spoke slowly and directed all of her answers to myself and others so I could study her lips, and I did the same. Ed realized what was going on, and he joined in the conversation about the natural gas furnace. It was challenging for a while, but the people I was with and I soon learned she just had to make a minor repair to the natural gas furnace, and it was now laboring fine. The deaf Heating and Air Conditioning worker thanked us for being patient with him and understanding..
