It isn’t too often that I worry about humidity when the weather gets cold. Humidity is something that happens when it is hot and humid outside. We often have heat and humidity to deal with, and the air conditioning unit deals with it. What do you do when you have a humidifier on the furnace, and the humidity is already high. I didn’t know if I could turn the humidifier off, or if I should turn on all the fans and draw the humidity out. I ended up calling the HVAC company and asked them to look at my furnace. When the HVAC technician arrived, I told him what my problem was. I didn’t know how or even if I could turn the humidifier off. He told me the humidifier in the furnace would turn off once my humidity levels reached a certain reading. He didn’t think it was too humid in the house, but he could turn down the humidity reading so it shuts down more quickly. If he did this, my skin may get dry and I could end up with a lot of static electricity in the house. I didn’t want dry skin or static electricity, so I told him to leave the humidifier where it was. He said I could turn on a space heater in the room that is affected the most. The added heat of the space heater could possibly dry the air out. I thanked him for the information and went in search of my emergency space heater. Once I had it in the bedroom, I turned the space heater on, and I saw a difference in the humidity.
