Not sure I like Christmas in the South

When I moved south to go to university, most people told me I was going to love my first Christmas down south… I spent my first Christmas there, but I couldn’t figure out what was so wonderful about it.

When I lived up north, we would go skiing as well as ice skating over the holidays.

My parents regularly rented a condo near the ski slopes as well as we spent most of the day on the slopes… We would go back to the condo as well as rest around the fireplace drinking boiling chocolate while mom made dinner. I went to a pool celebration on Christmas Eve, but I didn’t have a great time. They had Christmas lights up, but it wasn’t the same when you were having a BBQ as well as swimming at midnight. I asked my host family if it ever got chilly down here. I was told that it gets chilly for a couple of weeks. Last year, they had temperatures in the forties at night for a little while, however forty wasn’t chilly when you came from the north. I was hoping to go ice skating as well as skiing, but they said it couldn’t be done. Christmas morning, we sat around the Christmas tree with the air conditioning appliance working. It was already seventy, as well as no one seemed to notice. The only reason the air conditioning appliance was on, was for me. I was too boiling to breathe as well as wearing my shorts while most people were wearing sweatshirts as well as jeans. I felt like a fish out of water to be honest. This year, I am going back to my old dwelling for the holidays. I wanted to rest near a fireplace that gave off heat. I wanted to turn the temperature control up to make it warm, as well as not reset the air conditioning appliance. I think I won’t be staying here after graduation.
