It really wasn’t difficult to convince me that it was a great idea to install a ductless mini split.
My buddy kept telling me how easy it was since he did the install a few times for some friends.
I had a few different quotes for ductless mini split installations from different HVAC companies. I was going for a 5 zone system, so all the installation costs were way up there. I remember talking with my buddy about it and he kept telling me it was best to do the installation on my own and he would have my back for sure. So I ended up buying the new 5 zoned system, which I got for a pretty reasonable price. I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect with the installation, but my buddy told me every step carefully and we didn’t rush or anything. We took our time drilling the holes in the walls where we wanted to install the indoor air handlers. I have to say, the units are beautiful and they actually compliment the house. We used special lineset covers for the outside of the house, and you can’t even tell that this system wasn’t installed professionally. So far the ductless mini split has been working great. For some reason, I was concerned that I wouldn’t get enough cooling for the house, but these systems work so well, you could actually go down to freezing levels if you wanted, but I always keep the temperature control in my zone set at 74 degrees. For me, that’s comfortable and not to mention the energy savings are unbelievable!
