I thought it was smart when our son decided to get a job as soon as he could to save up money. He said he wanted to save up for his own transportation. I thought that was surprisingly responsible, but I told him he would have to get a car that was somewhat decent with a good climate control system. I was telling him how he didn’t want to be caught in the winter without a heating system. The heating system is what allows you to defrost your windows in the cold season and if you can’t do that, you won’t be able to see where you’re driving. And of course, nobody wants to be caught on an overheated day without being able to turn on the air conditioning. He worked hard for many years and eventually he had a reasonable amount of money saved up to where he could get a nice used car. I told him about a car auction site in the area. I told him not to be in a rush to get a car, he should wait until the right car came along. So we went to the car auction every weekend for a long while. We saw a lot of nice cars, but we checked them out before the auction. I managed to find issues with different cars. There was one car that was even very low on oil, even though the car looked nice. Then this very nice camaro came out and my son just about lost his head. He bid on the car until he won it! He was able to afford it too and this was a nice car for sure. Even though the AC was struggling a bit, I told him we would simply charge the refrigerant to the AC compressor and he would be good to go!
