It’s just so nice to be able to go to the cabin these days.
The really wasn’t anybody going up with me when I would suggest that we take a long weekend out in the woods.
I mean, we’re so lucky to have this cabin in our family and yet, my sister and I were the only ones using it. My wife and kids were choosing to stay inside the zone controlled HVAC of the house. We have 6 different thermostats so everyone in the house can have the sort of central air conditioning comfort that suits them. It’s nice because we don’t have the fights we once had over the setting on the one digital thermostat any longer. Still, it was sad that the cabin was just sitting empty. My sister and I even had the conversation about maybe selling the place. Yet, it’s been in our family for generations and selling it just wasn’t an option. But the fact that it was sitting empty so much just didn’t make much sense either. So if residential HVAC comfort is that important than my sister and I decided that we’d bring some air conditioning to the cabin. There is a big wood stove which provides all the heating one could ever need. Yet, it can get hot and humid at time during the summer out there. The air doesn’t move and it’s just thick. I have a friend who is a certified HVAC technician who agreed to come out to the cabin to help me install a pair of ductless heat pumps. After that we painted, added some new furniture and overhauled the kitchen. Now all the kids are asking when we can go to the cabin. It’s like they can’t get enough of the place. And the ductless heat pumps sure help with air conditioning comfort.
