I think it happened slowly over time, however somehow over time I have gotten a bunch of different cracks and openings in our house, and my cat didn’t help this, by breaking away at weather stripping as a scratching post, although it was gradual, there was a definite difference as time went on! I found it harder to heat and cool our beach house efficiently.
As well as it took longer for the lake beach house to heat and cool when I would tell it too, but of course, our HVAC bills went up as well, because now I had to use both the air conditioner and gas furnace for much longer than what I used to.
I was tired of paying high bills, and seeing these somewhat apparent cracks in our house. Another reason why I wanted those cracks gone, apart from the apparent heating plus air conditioning issue, is that bugs were getting through those cracks and into our house. I researched a bit online, and it turns out the nearby heating plus air conditioning company does lake beach house sealing and weatherstripping services. I called the oil furnace supplier and asked them about it, and I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t really pricey. I was able to have the A/C serviceman out a few nights later, and I showed him all of the spots around our house. The HVAC tech was patient and careful and made sure not to miss any of the spots I mentioned, but he even found a few I didn’t even notice! After everything was said and done, the people I was with and I said our goodbyes. I could already tell the temperature difference in our home. I am also quite curious to see what this week’s bill is going to be.
