I hate to say it, but I have always considered my relationship with my girlfriend and I to be a volatile one.
- I did not realize it at the time but she was really controlling.
One of the things she did that I absolutely hated was she was the master of the thermostat. Nobody ever but her was allowed to touch the thermostat. She didn’t care how hot, how cold, or how miserable you were. She had to have her temperature preferences and her temperature preferences only. It got so bad that she even installed a cage around the thermostat. This cage had a huge metal lock on it that only she had the key and passcode for. It was absolutely insane.. She would have to have the temperatures hot. I theorize now this is because she came from hell. I kid you not she would have the temperatures at 95 all the time. You can imagine what our heating and AC bills look like. I tried to remedy the situation by suggesting that maybe we could go and get a zone control HVAC system. This will allow us to control the temperatures in all of the rooms individually and that way we both could have what we liked. She got angry that I even suggested such a thing and simply told me that if I couldn’t handle her temperatures I couldn’t have her, and that I didn’t deserve her. None of my friends liked her, and were saying I needed to get away from her. One day I got sick of her insane behavior and I took an electric screwdriver and unscrewed the cage that was attached to the thermostat. Then I put it down to an icy cold air temperature and I got to feel the wonderful cold air from the air conditioner come out of the air vents and cool my burning skin. Hell had frozen over. I left the AC on like that and then I left that apartment for good. I haven’t spoken to her since and I have no plans either.
