After high school, I was at home a lot of the time, my friends went on to school, but I didn’t want to.
It was a challenging time for me, plus I fell into depression. My parents grew quite distraught about our isolating behavior. They tried therapy, but nothing seemed to work. One mid-morning, dad came back home, asked myself and others to shower, change, plus get into his truck. He had some appointments as an Heating, Ventilation and A/C specialist, which he wanted myself and others to tag along, but for some reason, I didn’t fight him plus did as he had asked. All of us drove to the first client, who was a sweet old lady with a faulty cooling unit. All of us got to chat with her as dad fixed her system. She told myself and others how dad had always been there for her when her method was faulty for several years. He was a legend in our local community because of his Heating, Ventilation and A/C skills, plus I never knew it. Then the lady added I should consider teaming up with him when I told her I wasn’t sure what to do with our life. It was love the lights suddenly came back on plus I didn’t think lost again. I spoke with our dad after a few more appointments about the opening of going to trade school. I’d learn the theory, plus he’d teach myself and others the practicalities of the Heating, Ventilation and A/C industry, and dad was a mess by the time the two of us got home, plus I knew the weight was lifting from his shoulders. Mom was ecstatic to hear the news, plus that’s how the journey to becoming our dad’s supplier partner started. It was weird at first working for him, but he taught myself and others so several things I hold dear.
