My boyfriend signed me up for a week away at a dude ranch.
He knows how much I like horses and the old west so he thought he was doing me a favor.
Besides, I have really been working hard at the office lately and I thought this would be a lot of fun. I have never worked so hard in my life as I did on my “vacation”. It was endless amounts of shoveling manure, wrangling cattle, and dirty work. I feel like they should have paid me and not the other way around. We were fed well, thank God, however, the bunkhouses didn’t even have any air conditioning and there was never enough warm water to go around for showers. It stunk pretty bad, by the end of the week, in there. I was so happy to go home and finally relax in an air conditioned house. I had my boyfriend crank up the air conditioner before leaving home to pick me up from the airport. When we got home it was so chilly and nice. I quickly took a shower then I slept for the rest of the day. The following day I had to return to the office. Even that didn’t seem so tiresome after working outside the week before. At least the office has a good working air conditioner and everyone doesn’t smell like body odor and animal poop. I swear, I will never pine for the past again. I am perfectly happy living in the 21st century where we have hot water and air conditioners.
