I have never been one to just sit around.
It’s just not in my nature. Even after a long, tiring day at the office, I still didn’t just come home to sit in the air conditioning. But the older I became, the less energy I had for all of this moving about and zinging from one thing to the next. Still, I was a bit afraid of retirement because I wondered if I’d just be bored. Or worse, I was afraid I would get to the point where I just didn’t want to get out and do stuff. Now that I have retired, I am finding that there is a very nice balance to be had between action and begin still. And the HVAC equipment is part of that balance for me. My wife and I did all the upgrades to our old home like the kitchen, HVAC equipment, roof and other stuff to sell it. Our new place was further south with more sun and better weather. It’s also smaller which didn’t take as much getting accustomed to as I thought it would. But the big thing that really surprised me was just how much I enjoyed the sunroom. This was an add on from the previous owner. However, my wife had the smart idea of having the HVAC company come out to install a ductless mini split. This way the sunroom has its heating and cooling separate from the rest of the house. And that ductless mini split really works. It has become my custom to sit and watch the birds in the morning and again in the evening. I find that there is some value to sitting in the air conditioning now.
