My wife and I went to see a couple of friends last Friday night. We planned to have dinner and play cards for a couple of hours. Our friends made a wonderful dinner on the barbecue. We had chicken, steak, fish, and shrimp. We had baked potatoes with sour cream, butter, chives, and cheese. Dinner was absolutely exceptional and we drank two bottles of red wine as well. I was feeling a little drunk after we ate our fish and shrimp. After dinner, we planned to go inside to play cards in the dining room. When everyone went into the house, it was easy to tell there was a problem with the furnace. My friend noticed the issue first and commented on the cool air. We had the back door open during most of dinner, and I thought the cool air was due to the draft. My friend decided to check on the furnace and he realized that it was not running. It was cold enough in the house that the furnace should have been on. My friends had to cancel cards for the evening, so they could call a heating company to fix the problem with the furnace. The next day they called to give us an update. The heat exchanger needed to be replaced. It took hours for the company technician to complete the repair and my friend had to pay a premium price for the repair and installation job since it was after hours. At least they got the problem fixed and we can reschedule our night of cards.
