Furnace heater tune-up gone wrong; almost collapsed my roof

I had built my current house from the ground up with my husband.

  • We felt very proud of ourselves and had a sense of accomplishment and ownership.

The house was only 3 years old and I was still decorating and changing up the interior decor. The outside was a representation of how incredible the inside looked. We had chosen to install our heating and cooling central system in the attic as we did not have basement space. Over the past few weeks, however, our unit had started misbehaving with several cool or warm pockets scattered all through the house. The zone controlled HVAC system would all of a sudden stop the restart after a few minutes, when it would stop, we used the oil heater and portable space heater for more heat in the house. We contacted the HVAC repairman to carry out a furnace heater tune-up as well as check on the cooling equipment to ensure they were not worn out. As the heating contractor was cleaning the HVAC duct in the ductwork, the entire system almost came undone and cracked the roof. Were it not for the reinforced metal holders, the entire roof would have caved in together with the technician and the unit. The technician managed to update the cooling technology to the best in the cooling and heating business and the unit was back to producing quality heating in the house. The WiFi thermostat was replaced with a new one that would be used in a ductless multi-split system as well. It turned out to be a good productive day as our system was brought back to life and the technician as well as my roof got to live another day.
